The first 48 hours
Mild grittiness, watering and light sensitivity are common. Vision is often hazy at first and clears progressively. Drops begin as prescribed, and the eye should not be rubbed or pressed.
Week one
Most routine indoor activities, reading and screen use are usually permitted as comfort allows. Avoid dusty environments, splashing water directly into the eye, swimming and heavy lifting. Use protective glasses as advised, especially while sleeping if instructed.
Weeks two to six
Drops are tapered on the schedule given to you — do not stop them early on your own. A final spectacle prescription is usually issued only after the eye has settled, commonly around four to six weeks.
When to call the centre immediately
Increasing pain, a sudden drop in vision, marked redness with discharge, or new flashes and floaters need urgent assessment. Patients travelling from outside Jaipur are given contact details and a review plan before they leave.
Posterior capsule opacification
Months or years later, the membrane behind the implanted lens can become hazy, causing gradual blurring again. This is not a returning cataract and is treated with a short outpatient YAG laser procedure when clinically indicated.
