Why near vision changes after 40
The natural lens gradually loses its ability to change shape, so near tasks require more effort. This is presbyopia, and it happens irrespective of whether you have had laser correction earlier.
How blended vision works
PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision uses an excimer laser treatment that adjusts each eye slightly differently and increases depth of focus, so the brain blends the two images into a continuous range of vision.
A tolerance trial and neuroadaptation counselling are part of the process, because not every patient adapts comfortably to blended vision.
Who is not suitable
Significant cataract, unstable refraction, thin or irregular corneas, marked dry eye and certain occupational requirements can make PRESBYOND inadvisable. When the natural lens has begun to change, refractive lens exchange or cataract surgery with an appropriate intraocular lens may be a more logical discussion.
Setting expectations
No presbyopia treatment guarantees complete freedom from reading glasses in every lighting condition. Fine print in dim light may still need help. This is explained clearly before consent.
