A second lenticule platform under one roof
SILK (Smooth Incision Lenticular Keratomileusis) is performed with the Johnson & Johnson Vision ELITA femtosecond laser. Like SMILE, it removes a lenticule through a small incision without creating a flap, but the laser energy profile and lenticule shape differ.
Perfect Vision is the only eye hospital in India with both the ZEISS VISUMAX 800 for SMILE Pro and ELITA for SILK, which means the platform can be matched to your measurements rather than to whatever machine is available.
What the evaluation looks at
Corneal tomography, pachymetry, refractive stability, tear film assessment and pupil measurement guide whether a lenticule procedure is appropriate at all, and if so which platform is discussed for your eye.
Recovery pattern
As with other flapless procedures, the corneal surface is minimally disturbed. Most patients resume desk work within a few days, following the drop schedule and activity restrictions advised at discharge.
Where SILK is not the answer
Thin or irregular corneas, unstable refraction, significant dry eye, keratoconus or suspicious topography, and certain high powers may make a lenticule procedure inadvisable. In those situations surface ablation, an Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) or refractive lens exchange may be discussed instead.
